This engine in 20HP version came in a 42" ARIENS riding mower. This is my first riding mower and I am very pleased. Bought at HD all assembled added gas and it fired right up as soon as choke was fully on. Has plenty of power to mow heavy grass without running at full throttle.I have used for 2 years and no problems. I think hard starting problems reported by other reviewers is the choke not being fully on when first starting.

Bought this engine in a Ariens 42" riding mower two years ago and it has worked great. The starting problems are probably the result of not choking enough when first starting. I find that when I go to start it cold I move throttle/choke firmly into choke position and it fires right up. It has lots of power in this size mower and you dont have to run engine wide open to get a good clean fast cut. I bought this mower over a more expensive JD with a single cylinder B/S moter. I wanted the 2 cylinder engine as I beleive they run smoother, and it does. Fuel economy at the slower engine speed is good. At this time would buy another.

Starts easy and runs strong. Starts each spring with 1 pull. however first summer with very few hours on it it just quit. it would not start. Took it in for repairs, which were covered under warranty, and the PLASTIC cam shaft broke!!!!! who makes a camshaft out of plastic???? The replace ment was still plastic but different material. the machine has run for 3 years now no problems. hopefully B/S has changed the material on this part.

only to find out that this engine is made in CHINA....... how decietfull..... I bought this machine because it had a B/S engine..I did not want a Cub Cadet or MTD or Troybilt. Its common knowledge their rngines are Chinese. I ve worn out many B/S engines in my life time and have always been satisfied with their peformance. I spent the money to buy what I thought was quality only to be deceived. SHAME on you B/S all yor advertising and Co history talk about MADE IN USA. I AM VERY DISSAPOINTED. We ll see how it holds up.

On engine # 406777 0442 B1 091211YC Where is it manufactured??? Do these engines have ball bearings on crank and cast iron cylinder liners???Why
Why doesnt B/S lable their engines with country of origin????? I thought it was the law. Is briggs and Stratton trying to hide something???

It has a cast iron cylinder sleeve with plain pto bearing. This engine is manufactured in CHINA..... Something B/S doesnt want you to know. How to RUIN a good engine line

the questions asked were about the 900 series engines that is pictured in this article. Is it so hard to answer these questions about your products?????? or do you know....One place says it is ball bearing and cast iron sleeve the next says nothing about it... thats the reason for these questions. If Im going to spend the money I want the quality not cheap chineese junk. There are too many companies sneaking their production to china and not saying any thing.
