htomerif's Reviews

The 1450 Series™ is designed to meet the needs of heavy-duty equipment. These engines utilize Overhead Valve (OHV) technology, causing them to run cooler and last longer, all while delivering more power and exceptional performance.

A fine, low cost modular engine.

I was a bit disturbed to see such a poor 1 star review of this engine. People need to understand that faults such as a piece of equipment being heavy or difficult to service is separate from the design of the engine.
I have one on a log splitter, it starts easily, runs cleanly and has the power and torque for its application.
Pros: 4 stroke, OHV, ventilated valve area for emissions. Controls are simple and intuitive.
Cons: If you're not strong, it can be a bit difficult to pull quickly enough to start.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Does this engine have an electric start kit available?

I have a log splitter with this engine (New 305cc 1450 recoil start)
And it would be convenient to add an electric start to it, preferably 12V.

Also, if there is an electric start kit, does it provide charge capability for a 12V battery?
