About two years ago, I was diagnosed with an incurable form of cancer, with a very sobering prognosis. Although I had always considered myself a hands-on dad, that prognosis put me into a heightened mode of making indelible memories with my kids and of instlling values and teachable moments that would last them their lifetimes.
One of my kids is a very curious son, who loves anything mechanical. With memories of my own dad teaching me a thing or two about engines, my son and I went out to the barn and started disassembling an old mower with a vertical-shaft B & S 3.5 HP engine on it. We had a GREAT time, and I explained theories and good shop practices with my son the whole time.
B & S engines are not only great machines, they are also great training tools! And to make the experience even greater... B & S provided us with some excellent books to help us in our quest to learn.
Great memories were made, my son has learned some things that he will be able to apply to many areas in his life... and God has chosen to help me with my prognosis, because I am still here today, more than two years later!
