As a power mechanic I've had the opportunity to repair / rebuild many of these particular model engines. The issues I've seen in this particular engine are, Poor head gasket design. Found many engines blow the head gasket into the valve push rod area over pressurizing the crankcase and causing engine to smoke excessively. Leaky Carbs. Can't count how many times I needed to install new float needle valves also install manual shut-off vales for good measure. Poor cam shaft. Found a few engines that worn the exhaust lobe of the cam shaft in turn not allowing the exhaust valve to open fully. Leaky valve cover gaskets. Valve covers leak, in turn dripping oil onto the muffler and causing engine to smoke.
ProsEasy to assemble, Quiet
Yes, I recommend this product.

What is the valve clearance for each valve

gas getting into oil
Not sure of your particular model but .003- .005 between the valve and rocker arm while engine is just past top dead center of the compression stroke.
