I like Briggs and Stratton engines because they are the most dependable and easiest to diagnose and repair.

I'm 77 and have always mowed my own lawn and mowers with Briggs and Stratton engines always last longer than ones I have had with other engine makes. When I don't hit a stump and bend the shaft the Briggs and Stratton engine always out lasts the frames. If I keep the air filter clean and don't snag the carburator springs and stretch them, they always keep running like new. You build the best engines.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Does 450 series push mower have a throttle control?

I ask this question as I own this mower and its seems to have throttle control fitted (marked "J" in the manual) but not attached to any spring or wire. I am having a few problems with mower cutting out and wonder if this is the problem. I have owned the mower for 4 months and used it about 10 times . As you can probably tell I am no mechanic!
For the last 7 or 8 years, the ones I've bought do not have a throttle control. They run at a pre-set speed. They have only given me a problem when the filter needs cleaning or when I snagged the throttle spring on a bush and streched it out of shape. During the dry and dusty season the filter needs cleaning frequently.
