Easy to start, WHEN IT STARTS! I bought a brand new Brute lawn mower with a Briggs & Stratton 725ex engine from Walmart in March of this year. It seemed like a great mower for the price. It was easy to assemble, started easy, and worked great for 2 months. Then it wouldn't start. It had fuel and oil, and would crank easy, so I replaced the hard to find Spark Plug. It ran great for another month, and then wouldn't start AGAIN! So I replaced the Spark Plug AGAIN, and it started right up. I did some research, and turns out it's very common on this engine. It's a easy fix, but I'm really getting tired of it dying right in the middle of mowing my lawn, and having to search for, and buy $5 spark plugs. I had a older mower with a Briggs & Stratton mower that ran great for over 10 years, and I cant get this one to stay running for more than a month!

725ex Series engine on 3 Brute Mowers won't start.

I saw 3 Mowers at Wal-mart that looked brand new. All had been returmed because they would not run. I took a chance. The engine started on the first pull, but my satisfaction was short lived.
It ran it for a couple of minutes then I stopped it. I started it again and left it running for another couple of minutes, but on the third attempt it will not start at all.
I even pulled the spark plug and had someone else pull the rope while I held the plug against the muffler to verify that I am getting spark.
I know I'm not the first person to have problems with this engine. Please help.
I bought one of those mowers. It works great, WHEN IT STARTS! I just replaced the spark plug for the fourth time this year!
