Are oil filters 842921 and 492932s interchangeable?

I was wondering if you can use 492932s in place of 842921?
No you cannot use 492932S in the place of the 842921. 842921 is specifically engineered for our Big Block engine requirements (i.e. higher heat, anti-drain back valve, etc.)

Our snow engines are specially designed to operate in the toughest winter conditions so they won’t freeze up or run poorly. Unique snow calibrations mean our engines are qualified to start even down to 20 degrees below zero. These engines offer uncompromised power and displacement resulting in easier and faster removal of all types of snow.

Gas leaking from carburetor

Purchased a new snowblower, filled gas tank on 1150 series engine to bottom of filler neck, then saw fuel dripping from bottom of machine. Took off snow cover and intake "screen", fuel appeared to be coming out of carburetor intake. Weird thing is fuel stopped dripping once gas level dropped to about 3 inches from top of filler neck, but it would drip again if I tilted the snowblower back a bit. Is this just an over-filling issue?
In this case, you must have your local Briggs & Stratton Authorized Dealer inspect your engine to determine the root cause or to see if there are any other concerns that need to be tended to: http://www.briggsandstratton.com/en...

Do not use the part number on the oil filter itself. Use the part number found in the engine's Illustrated parts list (492932S).

The 800 Series™ engines utilize Overhead Valve (OHV) technology to deliver the precise amount of power and performance needed to match the demanding needs of mid- to heavy-duty outdoor power equipment.

what does 850 series mean

I cannot find a 850 series engine anywhere in your lists but i have one new out of box about 3 years ago has never performed to my expectations. Its on a yard vacuum is this the right application for this motor it replaces 5hp tecumseh Thanks ed
To locate the engine's parts list and operators manual, you will need to locate the STAMPED engine numbers and enter them in this format xxxxxx-xxxx-xx.

Since there are many variations, you may need to have your local Briggs & Stratton Authorized Dealer inspect your engine to determine the root cause: http://www.briggsandstratton.com/en...

carb flooding

Working on an Intek 11HP walk behind mower. Owner recently installed a new fuel pump, said the engine ran for a few seconds, then quit. Checked carb, clean inside, started mower and would only run at a slow RPM, and smoked. Pulled breather hose and fuel was leaking out. Checked needle and seat, also o-ring on the seat housing, all looked OK. Tried bypassing the fuel pump by elevating the fuel tank and gravity feeding the carb, still same problem. Could there be any other thing bad besides the needle and seat? Thanks, Roy H.
Sounds like there is an obstruction between the needle and seat. In general all fuel goes stale/ turns to gum or varnish within 3 weeks. Automotive engines that are used more frequently, use an electric fuel pump to deliver the fuel at higher pressures, etc. generally do not have this concern. Replace the needle and seat. Also, try soaking the carburetor for a few hours in carburetor and choke cleaner may help clean out the narrow internal passages of the carburetor. If not, you may need to replace the carburetor. 675 Series
675 Series
The 675 Series™ is part of our most popular line of engines. Designed to deliver unprecedented reliability and performance, this series allows users to take advantage of great features such as FreshStart™, ReadyStart® and Electric Start.

I recently purchased a new engine and it will not start

I filled the engine with oil, put gas in fuel tank, pull on the pull cord and it pulls hard and it is not firing the spark plug.
If you are using a lawnmower, your problem could be related to one of 2 concerns. Stale fuel (more than 3 weeks old) or a sheared flywheel key (striking an object, like a tree root, pipe, clump of turf and has not run well since). Additional information about stale fuel and other causes of “starts then shuts down” issues can be found in this FAQ: http://www.briggsandstratton.com/en...
Both issues can be fixed by a local B & S dealer which you can locate here: http://www.briggsandstratton.com/en...
