I bought a MTD rear bagger from Home Depot, they gave me a great deal on it. First day went great, one pull start, very quiet, performed very well, I will let you know in about a month if I have any more comments.

Purchased from Lowes 3 months ago. Used 5 times -- 10 hours. Now engine starts and immediately dies. Oil ok, gas ok, air filter ok. Very disappointed in this purchase. Now have to find who services a BS small engine in this area.

The break in oil that came with the new engine needs to be changed after 5 hours. Did you change it?

My brand new mower with your engine (550EX) will not start.
We have checked all connections. Gas is new, oil was packed with mower. Instructions refer to a throttle control, which we cannot find.
See page 13 of the operators manual. The throttle control is called the blade control you must depress and squeeze it against the upper handle then pull the rope to operate the unit.Release it to stop engine and blade.
