Engine won't start after replacing flywheel key. Pull cord pulls but is jerky. Get white smoke. Any suggestions?

Recently hit a stump and had to replace flywheel key and blade. While replacing accidentally tipped the mower and leaked oil. Replaced oil and foam air filter.

Engine started for abut 5 seconds and then cut off with big puff of smoke. Engine no longer starts and pull cord pulls all the way occasionally and only part way some times. Any suggestions?
